fighters stepped forward when roads were new
and the dark pressed close against the gate.

Steel  answers  what  words  cannot. Fighters
train to kill. Not to posture, not to parley.
Their craft lies in the plain fact of a blade
driven home and a foe who does not rise.

Strength breaks the line. Constitution  holds
it. What stands between those two walls earns
its ending by the fighter's hand.

Any who can lift a weapon may walk this path.
Few walk it long.
